Photography Exhibitions on Tenerife

The island of Tenerife offers photogenic landscapes all year round, but once the busy beaches of the summer take on a quieter Autumn feel the island reveals a slightly different side to the many photographers who attempt to capture the beauty of the island through their lenses. A special exhibition is taking place in Tenerife at the moment to showcase the works of hundreds of photographers. FotoNoviembre, as it names suggests, started during early November, runs through the whole month and on to 10th January.
The FotoNoviembre exhibition is a series of 27 different exhibitions that take place on different dates in various locations around the island. Such is the spread and diversity of events, subject and locations that there should be something for everyone with even a passing interest in photography.
This year will see the tenth running of this artistic event and featuring hundreds of photographers exhibiting in over 400 projects. The images include works depicting the island itself as well as portraits , abstracts and other styles.
One example of an individual artiist exhibiting was the exhibits by Dave McKean at Estudio Artizar in La Laguna, that ran for a month until 12th December. Dave is an English cult comic artist and illustrator and has exhibited at galleries all over the world. He even had a set of Royal Mail stamps, named Mythical Creatures, released this year that carried six of his illustrations to mark his position as one of the most talented fantasy artists currently working.
Other exhibitions as part of Tenerife FotoNoviembre are displays of multiple artists and are currently open in Centro Cultural in Guia de Isora, El Corte Ingles in Santa Cruz, the Biblioteca Expression in San Juan de la Rambl and the Casa de la Cultura in Guimar.
