Lanzarote, a unique destination
Lanzarote is quite unlike anywhere else in the Canary Islands and a unique destination for the discerning visitor. Just 80 miles off the coast of Africa, many parts of the Spanish island are like some kind of alien landscape, thanks to its creation by ancient volcanic eruptions. Of course, there are still plenty of beaches, bars and all-inclusive resorts here, but Lanzarote retains a look and feel that is unmatched elsewhere.

Mirador del Rio in Arrecife

The Mirador del Rio in Lanzarote is a very popular attraction with tourists. From this attraction it is possible to get spectacular views of a number of places within the area. The earliest habitats of this island used this as a look out point when Lanzarote was under attack from pirates. During 1898 the Bateria del Rio was erected and used as a base for artillery and was used as a resting place for the canons. They once resided at Castillo de San Gabriel. This attraction is very popular attraction with tourists from all across the world and they make the most of the regular flights to Arrecife.

The Arab Baths in Palma de Mallorca

Palma is dated back to the initial Roman settlement that inhabited the present day city of Palma, although the region primarily belonged to the Bronze Age settlements that inhabited the same site. After the initial settlements the region was invaded by Arabs, who kept Madina Mayurqa as its name. King Jaime I who ruled the regions of Aragon and Valencia conquered it in 1229. At this time Palma had become significant for trade but ongoing raids by the Turkish pirates during the 17th century robbed the city of its trade centre. The settlement regained its balance only when Charles III revived the trade with the Indies.
