All of those who have been longing to indulge in another culture should stop reading right now and book last minute flights to Larnaca immediately. The 8th of July, the Larnaka Festival 2010 will take off with an impressive performance of Anna Vissi in the Pattichon Municipal Amphitheatre. For three weeks, Larnace will host outdoor concerts, theatre, dance, a poetry night and film screenings in the Amphitheatre, the Medieval Fort, Skala (the regional theatre on Larnaka Pier) and the Kamares Old Aqueduct.

Speaking of water: Larnaca's sandy white beaches are hugely popular with visitors. The 25k stretch of sand and surf is extremely diverse as each beach holds a different appeal for all tpes of beachgoers. Both Phinikoudes and MacKenzie Beaches have been awarded Blue Flags for their pristine cleanliness and have scores of restaurants and bars dotted between the palm trees. CTO Beach is renowned for its plentiful sporting events such as volley ball, handball, and a variety of watersports. There are beach bars here, too and a children's playground. Faros Beach is a ten minute drive from the airport and is the perfect place for total relaxation as it's quiet and set in picturesque surroundings. Faros Beach is the spot to head to if you want to focus on a good book while building up a gloriously golden tan.

Nighttimes can be spent at a variety of traditional Cypriot restaurants which populate the resort. It's worth the extra effort to try and seek out traditional Cypriot eateries to sample authentic recipes. Genuine Cypriot cuisine is comprised primarily of locally grown produce and regional ingredients. Of course the fish in Larnaca's restaurants are caught daily in the bay so there's no shortage of freshly-prepared fish dishes to try. Bars and clubs can be found just off the main promenade (called Laiki Yeitonia) with live music in many of the city's venues. A wide variety of shops near the city centre are opened during the day and in the evenings, too. So you can shop till you drop day AND night.

There are hundreds of accomodation options in Larnaca ranging from luxury beach hotels to holiday apartments, across a price range to suit most everyone.

Larnaca's international airport is conveniently located just a few kilometres from its centre, so you can be off the plane and on a beach in minutes. Due to the flight path being directly over the sea, noise disturbance from planes departing and arriving is barely audible.
