Rhodes Eco Film Festival

In late June, EcoFilms, an international film and visual arts festival takes place in Rhodes. The main venue for the festival is the Rodon Cinema Theatre in Rhodes Town.
The festival programme runs from June 23rd until the 28th, with entries grouped into several categories including committee-judged awards for feature length, medium length and short length films, Greek films and additional audience-judged awards.
In 2008 the main award for best feature length film was won by Werner Herzog for "Encounters at the End of the World". In the same year Herzog won recognition at the Edinburgh Festival and featured on Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
The entries into this year's programme number over 100, with each film having an environmental, ecological or conservation theme. The filmmakers come from all over the world and, reading through the entry information, there is certain to be some spectacular footage of some of the most beautiful, yet threatened, parts of the world.
