Mexico Rocks

mexico

Refreshing margaritas, Aztec ruins standing side-by-side with modern glass and steel constructions, a vibrant nightlife and a stark contrast between overwhelming wealth and excruciating poverty; that's what Mexico City is all about. It's also the most polluted, most dangerous city in the world, but that's part of the appeal. Because travelling through Mexico is a real adventure, a thrilling, wild and interesting road trip.

Flythomascook offers flights to Mexico to Cancun Airport, one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean. There are water taxis and a 24 hour bus service to the city centre of Cancun. Taxis are an easy way of going to places, but it can be dangerous to hail cabs in the street. At the airport and bus stations in Mexico City and other major cities there are official taxis (Taxis Autorizados) that are trustworthy. If you're leaving from a hotel, ask your hotel manager to call a cab for you. He will take note of the number of the taxi and the driver's name. In either case, never give you passport away to anybody, and carry your money in a money belt.

But don't let the notorious reputation scare you: Mexico is all about adventure, the unexpected and freedom, so the best way to get around really is to rent a car and hit the road. Blend in as much as possible and find out what the locals are up to. It pays not flash your camera and guidebook every time you get out of the car. Not only will this make you less of a target for criminals. By being aware of your surroundings and taking in the heat, the people and the culture for real, you'll feel more alive and you're bound to have unforgettable experiences.

If you're up for a wild and lively holiday this April, book a flight to Cancun, rent a car and drive to Mexico City. On the 23rd, 24th and 25th of April, the Vive Latino Fest will take place in Foro Sol, a sports and concerts venue in eastern Mexico City. Vive Latino Fest is one of the greatest "Rock en Espagnol" festivals, always presenting an impressive line up. This year, famous international rock bands such as Deftones and Empire Of The Sun will bring down the Mexican sky. Another reason to go is the performance of Rodrigo y Gabriela, a local duo of super-skilled acoustic guitar players who have gained world fame exciting the crowds with their rapid rhythmic songs.
