rodrigo leao in concert

Faro

This September 11th, Rodrigo Leao will be in concert at Faro, Portugal, presenting his new album A Mae. Rodrigo is one of the most renown portuguese contemporary compositors. His music has travelled worldwide and its only natural that this new album is a reflection of all his travelling. This record was written in several places, explains the musician, Goa, New York, Spain, Italy, and of course, Portugal. The tracks, he proceeds, were written on the move, with different windows over the world, which allowed me to explore different emotions.

Rodrigo confesses that he got used to carrying a couple of earphones and a laptop, on which he kept writing the stories that he now tells on this record, which he describes as more introspective, nostalgic and melancholic. Although some themes are happier, this a record that is very much turned inside myself.

O Cinema Ensemble, tells us Rodrigo, collaborates a lot more on this record.

Ana Vieira sings five or six themes, and in two of them she actually helped me writing the vocal sentences. She is completely integrated. And every other element, like Celina da Piedade for example, show new sides of themselves.

The musician has been working hard on the last years. After active collaboration on building two of the most important portuguese groups, S鴩ma Legi㯠and Madredeus, Rodrigo has adventured himself solo with huge success.

After Cinema, in 2004, his music reached new audiences, in Portugal and elsewhere. The O Mundo compilation, released internationally in 2006, earned him appraised critics. Pedro Almodovar, for example, had no doubts in describing Rodrigo as one of the most inspired compositors in the world. Musicians like Ryuichi Sakamoto or Beth Gibbons from Portishead didnt hesitate when they got invited by Rodrigo to leave their mark on the records he was creating.

You can check the flights to Faro. and be present for the celebration of this new album.
