Sharm Part 2

Sharm is loaded with idyllic places for both scuba diving and snorkeling aficionado's. Whether you are a beginner or an accomplished diver or snorkeler, you will revel in the the marvellous array of sea life in the pretty waters including dolphins, barracuda, eagle rays and angelfish. Diving and yacht charters out on the sea can be arranged by your hotel or by one of the many diving clubs. For more experienced divers, a night dive is recommended as well as dives around one of the shipwrecks in the Sinai peninsula.
Besides water sports, Sharm el Sheikh also offers plenty of hiking, horseback riding and camel riding trails, golf courses, quad biking outlets and water parks.
Na'ama Bay is the main tourist hub in Sharm and it does have its share of tacky shops and Brit pubs. However, there are traditional Egyptian cafes here too, decorated in the Bedouin style which remind the visitor of the true culture of Egypt. The beach is a short stroll from here and its promenade is decorated with cafes and restaurants for a quick lunch or snack.
There is a busy night life scene in Na'ama Bay with lots of noisy clubs, bars, and discos. It's pedestrianised so getting around at night is safe and navigable.
Sharks Bay resort is just six miles north of Na'ama Bay and is close to the airport. Despite its name, there are, fortunately, no sharks here!
This resort has lots of hotel options for families, couples, etc. with a small town centre with shops, restaurants, two ice-skating rinks and a cinema.
Ras Um Sid/Hadaba is a resort south of Na'ama Bay. This area has a good mix of hotels for every price range. The main attraction is the large open-air Il Mercato shopping centre, designed with Arabian decor yet filled with many western chain stores. Besides the international chain stores Il Mercato also has individual smaller shops that sell unique goods.
Right nearby Il Mercato is Fantasia, a giant entertainment venue designed like an Arabian palace. It has a sound and light show every night and Egyptian dancers (including a male belly-dancer!).
