The coastal town of Sousse lies just 10 miles north of Monastir and during the summer, Sousse makes the most of its wonderful location and weather with various musical and theatrical events.

Sousse is perhaps most famous for its annual international festival, running this year between 14th July and 8th August. The 52nd Festival International de Sousse includes around twenty different cultural events including orchestral performances, operas, jazz evenings, theatre productions, dance performances and concerts by popular Tunisian artists. Artists on the programme this summer include Taher Guizani's troupe 'Arabesque', pop group Samsa, Nawel Ghachem, and Lebanese virtuoso Marwan Khouri.

For clubbers, Sousse also boasts a well known and popular outdoor nightclub called Bora Bora. The club attracts some of Europe's best known DJs throughout the summer and has already welcomed the likes of Sasha and Paul van Dyk. This August the guest DJs will include global superstar Tiesto as well as disc duo Deep Dish.

Sousse is a very popular resort in this part of Tunisia due to its wonderful long sand beaches that stretch for over 2.5 miles to the northern side of the harbour.
