The Tenerife Wine Route is an association that is not for profit. It was established in 2005 and consists of close to 50 members. The aim behind its establishment is to generate awareness about the traditional and cultural wine growing that forms part of Tenerifes heritage. Foreign visitors who want to experience something unique can hop on to this bus. It is indeed a welcome tourist option that not just promotes Tenerifes wines but also takes you to the nitty gritties of running vineyards and preparing wines. There are several flights to Tenerife from many parts of the world. From London you can reach Tenerife through Thomas cook flights. You can also fly from Liverpool to Tenerife through Ryanair airlines.
The route is covered by a bus and the route is also the first one in Canary Islands that has been certified as a SPANISH WINE ROUTE. It is a great honor that has been given by ACEVIN (Spanish Association of Wine Cities) and the Secretary of State for Tourism. The route consists of 5 boroughs viz. La Orotava, La Laguna, Tegueste, El Sauzal and Tacoronte. All of them possess a wide variety of natural resources, landscape and rich heritage. This initiative has truly turned a monotonous tourist affair to an exciting journey through the places where best wines are made in the most unique ways. The island of Tenerife also benefits tremendously by it and it gives a boost to tourism as well as wine sales. Because of this initiative the Designations of Origin of La Orotava and Tacoronte Acentejo have been made widely known.
The bus runs on every Saturday wherein people running the wineries from Tenerife give an invitation to you to learn in detail about the wines made locally. For people who want to learn the art of making wines can note down everything that that tour teaches them. Apart from that you can really enjoy the wine while on the wine bus, La guagua del vino 2010.
Your trip will entail various visits to the vineyards and wineries, trying snacks and wines. All you need to do it enroll yourself for the tour and enjoy your weekend in the most unique manner possible. The complete tour costs 40 Euro along with a meal. Without the meal it costs 20 Euro. The amount includes an guided trip La Ruta del Vino, transportation, visit to the chosen route, meal during the trips and most enjoyable of all tasting the wines at all vineyards. The tour is organized from May 29th to December 18th. Most people consider the trip to be one imparting education about the vineyards and there are others who simply want to pep up their visit to Tenerife.
