One of the known museums of Sanford includes the Morse Museum of American Art.

The museum houses the worlds most discursive collection of works of Louis Comfort Tiffany who lived from 1848 to 1933. It is also called The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. It has a wide Tiffany collection which includes paintings, jewelry, pottery, art glass, leaded glass lamps and windows. There is a chapel whose interiors were also designed by him for the Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in 1893. The other collections of the Museum include a major selection of pottery and other objects from late 19th and 20th century. The museum also consists of various American decorative art, painting and graphics.

For around 35 years, the Museum was within the campus of a college called Rollins. It was known as the Morse Gallery of Art. It was in 1977 that its relocation to 151 East Welbourne Avenue at Winter Park occurred and the name was kept as The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art.

The redesign of the existing structure linked two separate buildings with a tower and the style imbibed was Mediterranean aimed at blending it with the cityscape. The Morse spans over 30,000 sq. ft. of the space in a Park. It is operated and owned by a Foundation called The Charles Hosmer Morse foundation. It receives a lot of support from another foundation called the Elizabeth Morse Genius Foundation.

Its fascinating items include brightly colored windows, jewels, furnishings, mosaics, stone, marble and glass especially those seen in Tiffany collection. During the exposition it was Tiffanys that was admired the most and this is what ensured his international fame.

Special exhibitions are held every now and then almost through the year. Tiffany has been able to successfully transform several simple looking objects into a unique work of art. The moment you see the collection you will wonder whether he was a painter, a decorator or an architect. If you explore the museum further you will conclude that he was a combination of all of this and more. The museum houses furniture, ceramics and enamels, all designed by him. It is difficult to get bored with the variety in works of arts exhibited in this fascinating museum.
