Walk The Trail in Corfu

Flythomascook.com's flights to Corfu resume in April this year and there are some offers already available for people wishing to visit this beautiful Greek island in the early part of the summer.
To experience the true beauty of the island, one of the best ways is to walk some (or even all) of the Corfu Trail.
The Corfu Trail was established as a way of seeing some of the forgotten highlights of the island. The full length of the trail is over 80 miles, so would present a serious challenge even to an experienced walker, but taken in sections or with the help of a guided trip, it will take walkers to some of the prettiest villages on the island and through some of the most spectacular scenery.
The route uses ancient footpaths and mule tracks and, for the most part, manages to avoid proper roads. The trail is well marked with signposts and can easily be tackled without a guide, but walking with someone who has experience of the route will help to decide how much can be attempted in one day and of course where one can stop to take on refreshments.
The recommendation is to start the trail in the south of the island and head north. The reason for this suggested direction is that the southern sections are easier to walk, meaning people have the chance to get used to the terrain before tacking the more mountainous areas in the north. Also they say the northern sections offer more impressive scenery, so starting in the south means the views will just get better and better as you go along.
Some of the recommended highlights include the Bella Vista viewpoint, high above Paleokastritsa, and Corfu's highest peak and abandoned monastery at Agii Deka.
Flythomascook.com have flights to Corfu from 9 UK airports during the summer, including Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester.
