Every town such as Nicosia Paphos, Larnaca and Limassol is known for its unique way of celebrating different fun filled festivals.

People of Cyprus celebrate a Carnival and a festival called Kataklysmos. Kataklysmos is a festival of Flood. Anthestiria is another festival and is characterized by the Spring Flowers all over the place. Panigiri is yet another festival celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm all over Cyprus. Limassol Wine Festival is among the largest Cyprus Festivals. It is organized each year with an ever increasing pride and exhilaration. The festival takes place in the charming municipal gardens adjacent to the sea front close to the old town of Limassol.

Dionysus, which is considered to be the God of wine, would definitely be filled with joy to witness this exciting annual event. This event has actually grown into an internationally known festival pulling hordes of travelers and visitors from all over the world. The festival is said to have started in 1961 when the traditional wine making had started gaining a lot of popularity in the near by regions.

The grand event celebrates the amazing history of wine production with Cyprus traditional dances, music, food and wine. The event is accompanied by brightly decorated stalls. If you visit the place to attend the event you will notice tavern style food stalls overflowing with their typical Cypriot food. You will also get free wine all through the festival. What more can you ask for. You can reach here easily as there are different flights to Paphos from various parts of the country and the world. You can then reach Limassol by road, which is about 50 km from Paphos. You can try out all the traditionally made wines here. The festival is quite thrilling as you will witness a number of folk dances and theatrical performances taking place during the event.

The opening hours for the event are usually 7 in the morning and the event closes by 11pm. The fee for adults is 4.50 Euros. This also gives to a chance to have a bottle of wine free of cost. If you are lucky you will be able to attend the performances of internationally acclaimed artists too.
