A brief overview

Geilo has been welcoming skiers since 1890. Although its ski area and accommodation have certainly moved with the times, the resort has managed to retain its charming, traditional character. We've made Geilolia ski centre, one of two ski areas in the resort, home to Neilson. Its uncrowded slopes, huge array of activities and award winning ski school make it the perfect choice for beginners and families. Plenty of cruising runs, a custom-built terrain park and over 200km of trails means improvers, freestylers and cross country skiers are catered for too. Relaxed during the week, lively at weekends best describes the atmosphere in the village where you'll find a number of bars, restaurants, cafes and a small shopping centre. Add a long reliable snow season and a warm, friendly welcome to the mix, and it's easy to see why so many visitors return year after year to Geilo.
