A brief overview

The lift-connected resorts of Arinsal and Pal, known as the Vall Nord ski area, have received a great deal of investment recently, resulting in great improvements to both their slopes and facilities. Both Arinsal and La Massana offer swift gondola access to well-planned ski bases. The ski areas are quite different but both ideal for learning and improving. Pal's network of tree-lined runs contrasts to Arinsal's wide, open slopes, providing varied terrain for beginners and improvers to explore. For more challenging runs and great off-piste, we recommend the local's secret, nearby Arcalis - covered on the same lift pass. At the end of the day, Arinsal's small, friendly village centre offers a good choice of restaurants, a few shops and several lively bars and discos while La Massana is larger in size yet has quieter apres ski. We think this area should be given more credit - things have really changed and it shows, making it an ideal best choice for beginners, improvers and families.
