A brief overview
Niederau and Oberau are small, picturesque villages situated in
one of the Tyrol's prettiest valleys. Wide, nursery slopes in the village
centres and first-class ski instruction make them perfect for beginners. The
ski school continually receives excellent feedback for its professional,
friendly service, and its awards evening at the end of the week with live music
from the ski instructors' band is not to be missed. The compact village centres
close to the slopes, the gentle, rolling runs and specialist children's ski
instruction make them a great destination for families too. Niederau's rustic
village centre has a handful of shops, a supermarket, plus several cafes and
restaurants, while Oberau is smaller, centred around a pretty church. Evenings
are relaxed and informal - these are not lively resorts but a few cosy stuberls
and bars sometimes offer live music and there are three discos. We cannot
recommend them highly enough for beginners and families.
