A brief overview
A traditional village set against a backdrop of breathtaking
scenery, Rauris is the ultimate Austrian resort for beginners and families. Set
in the beautiful Hohe Tauern National Park, the ski area offers long wide blue
runs for confident beginners and more challenging red runs for early
intermediates wanting to sharpen up their technique. With gentle nursery slopes
easily accessible at both the base and top of the gondola, this is a resort
ideally suited to beginners and families - not just for the amount of easier
runs but also the sheer convenience of it all. The village began life as a
goldmining settlement and has developed into a charming, typically Austrian ski
resort. The attractive church dominates the village centre, surrounded by
shops, restaurants and a few bars that fill as the slopes empty. Although not a
lively town, there is plenty for non-skiers wanting to enjoy the walking and
the mountain atmosphere off the slopes.
