A brief overview
Solden was, until recently, relatively unknown to British skiers.
This high altitude resort boasts two glaciers and an extensive network of
slopes, coupled with excellent snow reliability. We believe it deserves a
serious look, especially by keen intermediates. The town stretches for more
than 2km along the valley floor, its traditional Tirolean-style buildings,
countless restaurants, bars and shops lining either side of the main road.
Solden is a vibrant resort with a great atmosphere. Its apres-ski is famous in
Austria, starting off late afternoon in the mountain bars, progressing down to
the town's bars and restaurants on the main street and then onto one of many
clubs offering live music and DJs later on. It's the lively apres ski scene
that attracts a younger crowd of skiers and boarders although couples looking
for a more relaxing time, will enjoy the good choice of quality hotels, many
with wellness areas. With more runs than either Chamonix or Kitzbuhel, Solden
just has to be tried.
