A brief overview
Charming, traditional resorts offering extensive skiing, Zell am
See and Kaprun have it all. Both resorts are well linked by bus and have access
to the 130km Europa Sport Region. Easily accessible nursery slopes, a massive
amount of intermediate slopes and some challenging black runs and off-piste
areas, means there really is something for all abilities and disciplines in
these resorts. Dating back to medieval times, Zell am See is probably the most
attractive lakeside ski resort in Austria. It has a sophisticated atmosphere
with plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. The apres-ski can be lively
but quieter, cosy options are also available. Neighbouring Kaprun, a 10 minute
bus ride away, is situated at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier and
although smaller, still offers a good selection of bars and restaurants in its
rustic centre. Two fantastic all-round resorts sharing a tremendous ski area
continue to attract British visitors back time and time again.
